Tailpieces are decorative elements used in printing to mark the end of a text or chapter. In the hand made edition Finis Sea Urchin compiles 30 tailpieces that were done in the 19th and 20th centuries by various artists, ranging from Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec to Alfred Kubin and George Grosz. Frank Bretschneider (1956) was active in the subcultural scene of the GDR’s Karl-Marx-Stadt (nowadays Chemnitz). The Karl-Marx-Stadt area was a nucleus of non-conformist activities in the GDR.
