New in our Moloko Plus catalogue:
Former East Berlin punk rockers Alexander Krohn and Bernd Jestram teamed up in 2010 to record the short CD Strč Prst Skrz Krk for Moloko Plus. The title of this short album is a well-known vowelless Czech tongue-twister meaning stick a finger through the throat. Recorded and mixed in Jestram’s Bleibeil studio in Berlin, this Czech themed album is a long way from GDR underground punk rock but has kept the best of its individuality and refractoriness. Poems and texts are subtly put to music in the five compositions of the CD, each varying in style and combining traditional forms with experimental mixing and arranging. It’s the combination of guitar or piano driven songs, an accidental phone recording, poem and texts by Alexander Krohn and Kai Pohl, and attempted Czech folk dance music that make Strč Prst Skrz Krk a lovely and original conceptual album. Ossis rule on Ralf Friel’s Moloko label.
