In 2001 Michael Tedja (Rotterdam, 1971) won the Charlotte Köhler Award for his paintings and his work has been on show at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam several times. During his education at the Rietveld Academy and the Sandberg Institute Tedja started the construction of a coherent system of ideas about life and art. In that period Tedja wrote his first short scripts, staged performances, wrote lyrics, and produced an animated cartoon. In the course of the years a fictitious space came into being, which Tedja coined The Holarium. The Holarium is a place where his visual works, poetry, and prose meet. De Aquaholist combines poems and prose poems that were written between 1991 and 2004.
