Alfred 23 Harth (1949) is a relentlessly transgressive musician and composer who has been hammering away at the walls that separate jazz, classical music, punk and performance art since the late 1960s. Relying on free improvisation to achieve his goals, Harth (originally from Kronberg, Germany) has joined forces in various ensembles with a fine pick of like-minded musicians such as Peter Brötzmann, Sonny Sharrock, Otomo Yoshihide, Paul Bley, and Heiner Goebbels.
Laubhuette was the name of the studio where Alfred 23 Harth used to work and record, at first in Seoul, later in the country of South-Korea. This album contains a choice of pieces from that period, another choice having been released as Laubhuette Productions, Side A in 2018. According to Harth the two Laubhuette Productions albums stand in close relationship to the surroundings and culture in which they came into being. North of Seoul, in a small mountain village, the studio and gallery of Korean artist and Harth’s wife Yi Soonjoo can found, whose drawings and paintings according to Harth, are as closely related to life in South-Korea as Harth’s own Laubhuette pieces. Harth’s Laubhette pieces and his wife’s artwork have now been brought together by Moloko Plus in a handsome cardboard box that contains a 75-minute audio CD and a 20-page booklet plus 6 cards with Yi Soonjoo’s drawings.
